Walking tours along the foothills of Amer with a visit to Anokhi Museum of Hand Block Printing & Panna Meena ka Kund

This region, older than the city of Jaipur, is rich in architecture and has beautiful temples like Jagat Shiromani Temple and a beautiful stepwell, Panna Meena Ka Kund. The highlight would be a visit to Anokhi Museum for Hand Printing, located in the Amer Foothills. This museum is dedicated to block/hand printing which is a dying art form popular from Rajasthan & nearby area like Bagru & Sanganer. Visiting the museum will give a detailed insight on methods & different designs of block printing. The building which houses the museum was an old ruined down haveli which is now restored completely and has been awarded by UNESCO for successful restoration.

Tuesday – Saturday: 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday: 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Museum will be closed on every Monday and all major National & local holidays.
  • The museum will be closed between May 1st and July 15th every year for exhibition changeover and maintenance of the galleries.
  • Workshop: Tuesday & Wednesday, which is to be booked in advance on museum@anokhi.net Guests can also have an experience to print their handkerchief or small cloth on either of the day.

Visit to Albert Hall Museum

This museum, which just got a facelift couple of years ago, is situated in the beautiful Albert Hall building which is located just outside the old walled city of Jaipur. Thanks to the traffic diversions, most of the tourists get a glimpse of this beautiful building carved out of marble and local stone. Though the foundation stone of Albert Hall was laid to commemorate the arrival of the Prince of Wales – Albert Edward to Jaipur in 1876, but the decision of converting it into a museum was taken much later. Now the museum has come up very nicely after compete restoration and has various galleries to showcase to its visitors. The museum is open from 0900 to 1700 hours and is closed on national holidays as listed on their website.

Albert Hall Museum is also open for night viewing (6.30 PM – 9 PM).

Note: Albert Hall Museum is closed every Monday and the last Tuesday of every month.

Flower & Vegetable market visit along with Govind Dev Ji Temple

Guide will meet the guest in the lobby of the hotel & will start by showing them the beautiful architecture of the old city when the city residents are still sleeping. First stop would be at the wholesale flower market where fresh flowers from the surrounding areas of the city are bought in to be traded by the flower merchants. Event organizers, Florist & shop owners from the temples would come here to buy the flowers. The scenery is colorful filled with bright yellow coming from marigold, deep red from roses local roses, white from jasmine & sprinkle of other colors coming from imported flowers. This is lit up in the glory of morning sun & is captivating sight & a great photo opportunity. From here, you will continue your walk to adjacent vegetable market where similar scene & chaos awaits your arrival.

Wholesale traders as well farmers from nearby area bring their produce to be traded by merchants. Caterers & even local would come here to buy the fresh vegetables as per their requirement. It is a sight to watch as you will see locals haggling for freebies or the shop owners trying to squeeze out an extra penny. From here they will drive to Govind Dev Ji Temple which will be the highlight of the walking tour to see the aarti ceremony. Govind Dev Ji is dedicated to Lord Krishna, which is also the main deity of city and its people. It is visited by thousands of local every hour and temple have magical positive effect on the visitors.

Jaipur Dera Amer Elephant Sanctuary

At Dera Amer Camp you will be greeted by the Elephants and allowed to make your first contact with these kind hearted giants by the way of feeding bananas.
Later you will bathe your own elephant (weather permitting) with the help of the camp staff and mahout. You will be feeding and walking with elephants in the wilderness accompanied by in-house naturalists.
Walk with the elephants will come to an end at the camp where guests will be served buffet breakfast/ lunch / dinner (one meal) lot of the vegetables that are grown organically on the camp’s farm and if needed there would be enough charcoal grills to keep guest warm.
No riding or painting of elephants at the camp, just the most natural experience with pets/ family in this natural environment.
